About CP

 

Cassilis Park is situated near the small town of Cassilis in the Upper Hunter, and is ideal country for sheep, cattle, horse and cropping enterprises. Cassilis Park incorporates a number of these enterprises including the Merino Stud, Horse Agistment, Horse Oats and a Performance Horse breeding program. Cassilis Park is owned and run by the Armstorng family; Cam and Winks, James, Emma and Annabel.

Cam Armstrong is the second generation to live at ‘Wirroolga’ and has carried on the strong family tradition of merino breeding. Winks comes from a farming background in NZ and has many years of involvement in equestrian sport. In the late 1990’s she developed a substantial horse Agisting business on ‘Wirroolga’.


James, after completing an honours degree in Agricultural Science at the University of Sydney was employed in the Riverina for a number of years, reaching the position of Overseer at Uardry, one of Australia’s premier Merino Studs. He returned to Cassilis Park in 2009 after some oversees travel. James and Cam now manage the farm together.


In 2009 a partnership was formed with the Pienaar family in South Africa facilitating the importation of Merino genetics to Australia. The Armstrongs and Pienaar’s have successfully set up the Mega Merino Australia stud which has the sole marketing rights to Mega Merino genetics in the country, ram sale commenced in 2010.


Emma and Annabel are both professional Event riders and specialize in training and competing horses in Eventing and Dressage. They both have their sights set on competing at the Olympic Games and representing Australia. Emma has established an elite performance horse breeding program that she runs in conjunction with Cassilis Park Horse Agistment.
